Skateboarding keeps so many kids involved in something positive and out of trouble it is always good to see skateboarders working to help those that may not have the opportunity to enjoy the sport. The Doogood conservatory was founded by Ari Evan to do just that.
Evan and his organization are dedicated to helping inner city and at-risk kids and teens get involved in board sports (be it skateboarding, snowboarding or surfing). The Doogood conservatory gets skateboards into kids hands at no cost and helps them get started in the skateboarding world.
As Evan so aptly put it "At risk kids need an outlet. They don't listen, however, they need a mentor and Doogood gives them an opportunity to see if skateboarding, surfing or snowboarding are that silent mentor for them. Board sports give kids an incredible amount of self worth and accomplishment." CELL Skateboard Bearings fully supports Ari Evan's work and you can too.
The Doogood conservatory is accepting donations via Paypal (as well as other methods) to help get skateboards into the hands of the kids who need them most. Vist the Doogood Conservatory website to help chip in. |

CELL Bearings is pleased to announce the French Downhill (longboard) Championships for July 9th through the 12th being held at Peyragudes. With the international longboard scene slanting more and more toward true downhill longboard racing, the French circuit comes out swinging for the fences (and whatever else you swing for when you don't play baseball). The Bordeaux Longskate Club (one of the largest communities for longboarding in Europe) as been Commissioned by the French Federation of Roller skating to manage the event which is sure to give the U.S. Championships at Maryhill (Washington State) a true run for their money.
This coarse is rediculous and whats more, the ski area (Peyragudes ) has commited its full support to backing the Downhill Longboard Championships. CELL Longboard Bearings are fully capable of functioning at the highest level, which is essential as estimated speeds for this corase are projected to be in excess of 60 MPH.

With the New York skateboard scene a huge inspiration for CELL the new film: Deathbowl to Downtown (NCP Films ) hits all the right notes and covers the evolution of New York Skateboarding 1970s to the present. Check out the film's website for clips and more information.
This looks like a fantastic film that everyone at CELL skateboard bearings is already looking forward to. |

As the Sun so aptly reminds us "..those who would like to exercise and have a blast while doing it"... "ought to check out the serious fun of skateboarding". While they hit most things right in their article, the one thing we take issue with is the concept that skateboarding requires a higher level of coordination than many average people might expect to have. This is not the case.
While it may take above average balance, talent and determination to reach the professional level in skateboarding, having fun and getting place to place is something anyone who picks up a skateboard can expect.
As far as skateboarding specifically for exercising is concerned... go straight to the source: Chris Yandall and Skogging . As Chris will tell you, anyone can do it although a fast skateboard bearing will clearly help the cause.

After several years of in house experimentation, the first round of CELL brand skateboard bearings has entered production. By entering the market in the prototype phase, CELL Bearings hopes to give the skate community a chance to influence the course of the skateboard industry by directly involving CELL riders in the design and development process. The CELL Bearings V1 Prototypes are the first chance for riders to have a look at the progress we have made so far and, if they choose, provide their input to influence the direction of CELL's continued bearing developement. The V1 Prototypes are a fantastic skateboard bearing that is only going to get better with the input of the CELL community. |
